Cannon is my great 33.5 inch driving donkey, born in 1989. He was 1996 NMDA
National Grand Champion Green Performance Donkey and sire of the 1995
NMDA National First Place Miniature Foal J-Bar Farms' Luna.
Cannon also took Reserve Hi-Point Jack at the 1997 Pacific Crest
all-miniature donkey show.
Cannon's excellent disposition and quiet manner make him a joy to
be around. He is a very dark brown bay and a color producer. Cannon is now retired
from breeding, but he will always get top billing! Color genetics:
BbAaCCdd(Ee)ggRnrn(oo)ttSS.
Cannon LOVES to pull! His favorite sport is snigging, or log pulling as it's called down under. He also really enjoys parades and giving cart rides to kids. Candi often donates the proceeds from cart rides to donkey welfare funds for care of rescued donkeys in the Northwest. For lots more photos of Cannon, go to the herdsire page.
After a long search, the sorrel breeding program is coming back on track! Sedona is
a gorgeous dark sorrel, born 10/22/03 at only 19". Mature height 32-7/8". He
has such a soft personality and solid conformation! I didn't think I'd ever find a jack like Cannon in
disposition, but Sedona is really growing into a wonderful herdsire. His first foal crop has impressed me, with 3 of my
4 being RED foals, two from rose
dun dams. Three of the four are jennets.
Sedona's bloodlines (My World, Sunset Acres, Red Baron) should click well with the sorrel lines I
have in my jennets (Red Baron, Winchester, Lazy N) and wonderful red
babies will grace my pastures! Sedona is standing at stud at J-Bar Farms (fee $400).
For more photos of Sedona and his sire/grandsire, go to the herdsire page.
Here's a fantastic little very, very dark red jack for your consideration. This little guy is a show quality son of J-Bar
Farms' Mahina Iki and Sedona and is linebred on Red Baron with My World Buster, The Fireman, Winchester sorrel genetics in the mix. His
conformation is compact and straight, with a floating trot at two days old.
Kahu's muzzle is now dark and he is a liver chestnut (photo shows more brown but he's really red!) measuring 29.5" March 2008. He is
available now to add some dazzle to your future sorrel breedings. He's a very thoughtful donkey, solid and calm in
disposition. Kahu means "guardian." Don't wait on this one! DOB 4/29/07
This amazingly sweet little gelding is full brother to J-Bar Farms' Blue Moon, J-Bar Farms' Naniloa, (see
Sold Donkeys page) and J-Bar Farms'
Momi. He is a
very dark brown bay like his sire RVB Cannon (HOF). Kahuna
will be retained at J-Bar Farms as companion for Sedona and Cannon. He has the wonderful Cannon disposition as well as his own deep
magic. Kahuna is draftier than his sire. Photo taken
July 2003, age two, height 30.5 inches.
Here's a great little red gelding to fall in love with. His fantastic sire, My World Vincent, stamps his babies
with that trademarked My World rear end, and Maluhia is no exception. Inquisitive, outgoing, and friendly are disposition
traits that I look for in a gelding. This boy meets those and adds straight, correct legs, attractive head, and compact
build to the mix. He's just a puppy, and follows me around the place whenever I'm out in his pasture with the horses
and other donkeys. Maluhia means "peace."
Betsy is a sweet, attractive jennet who carries the sorrel genetics of
her famous sire RED BARON. She is a 34" rose dun born in 1993.
She has the most correct conformation of all my foundation jennets and her daughters Mahina,
Kamalani, Kikiholo, and Hula are wonderful. Kamalani (with her sorrel daughter Makana) and Hula are available
for sale at this time.
Betsy is just a total sweetheart,
my "quinessential donkey."
Color genetics: bb(aa)CCDd(Ee)ww(rnrn)ttOO w/DnDn (dominant dun)
Betsy is resting this year and can be bred for a 2009 foal. I would consider letting her go in a package with Alex and/or Kamalani, with a contract stating they would stay together.
"Alex" (sometimes "Lexi") is my smallest jennet at 31-1/4 inches, born in 1993. She was grand champion
miniature jennet at the 1995 Washington Donkey Days (all-donkey show). She is the dam of
J-Bar Farm's Blue Moon, J-Bar Farms' Cannon's Kahuna, J-Bar Farms' Naniloa, J-Bar Farms'
Momi, J-Bar Farms' Ilihia and a new rose dun jennet foal Momona born 5/13/07 (see
photos on this page and the sold donkey page). Alex is a more
drafty-type miniature, yet still balanced.
Alex is a brown chestnut with dilution and dun factors present. Color genetics:
bbaaCDDdeeggRnrnOOttSS.
Alex is available open, or she can be bred to Sedona for a reduced
fee. Alex has produced color for me in the past(brown bay).
Salome is a nice 33-5/8" sorrel jennet born 2/7/01 by 758's Tanah Merah (34" sorrel) out of
758's Joy Luck (33" brown). Salome is doing well in her new Oregon home and we're enjoying
her lovely disposition. She is a very sweet and soft soul (Salome means
"tranquil") and a wonderful addition to the herd. Salome has been bred to Sedona for a 2009 foal.
News Flash!! Salome foaled J-Bar Farms' Mahina Lokenani (Beautiful Rose Moon) a sorrel jennet foal June 8 sired by LN JBF Red Moon! Lokenani will be retained in my breeding herd.
Here she is, the long-awaited first daughter of LN JBF Red Moon born in 2000. Mahina was 22 inches
tall at birth, a dark rose dun of 32.25" mature height and carrying the sorrel gene and is a proven color producer.
She is a very compact and well-built little jennet
with personality plus. Mahina foaled a gorgeous, correct VERY dark red jack on 4/28/07 sired by Sedona (photo above). Don't wait on
this little
guy if you're looking for a stellar sorrel herdsire! (Photo taken 9/1/06)
News Flash!! Sorrel Jennet Foal 4/23/07!!
Kamalani is a 35" red rose dun jennet born June 2001 out of Feather Ridge's Betsy & sired by
LN JBF Red Moon. She's very vigorous and healthy, with that winning Red Moon
personality and carrying the sorrel gene! Kamalani has matured into a solid jennet and a cross with Sedona
has produced something special! Circumstances dictate that Kamalani be offered for sale. Don't wait, as she
is a prime young brood jennet with years of lovely foals ahead of her. She foaled to Sedona (his very first baby on
the ground!) April 23, 2007. Kamalani is available at special pricing until 6/15/08, open or bred to Sedona.
WoW! Gorgeous dark rose-dun Hula was born 5/3/04 out of Betsy by RVB Cannon (HOF).
She is a nicely
straight and correct jennet and has developed into quite a sweetheart like her momma. This is
Betsy's first Cannon foal and I couldn't be
happier with Hula. I have four Betsy daughters however, so Hula is available to join
your breeding program! She's turning into quite a nice breeding jennet, and still very soft in disposition.
Hula foaled a very dark brown bay jennet to Sedona (sorrel) on July 2, 2008. She is a dark rose dun in color and mature
height is 33.25". Photo 9/1/06.
Hula is also offered in a package
with her best friend/sister Momi.
Momi is a frosty rose dun jennet,
22" at birth, with nicely correct conformation and a darling dish face. Her mature height is 32". Both her parents are
grand champions, and look at those EARS! Momi foaled a BAY jack foal June 30 and prefers to stay with her sisterfriend Hula. Photo 9/1/06.
"Makani" means wind. This lovely 23" (remember, she was a month overdue!) light rose dun jennet
was born 6/13/05 out of Kamalani by My World Vincent. Makani is a soft-natured being, short-backed and
leggy at this point. Photo 6/13/05, just 10 hours old. I would consider letting Makani move on to a new adventure, in a
package with her dam Kamalani and sister Makana. Makani has been bred to Sedona for 2009 (50% chance of sorrel).
"Ilihia" means stricken with awe or thrilled, as with beauty.
I've been breeding little donkeys for 12 years, and I've never been so taken with a foal! This stunning 22" rose dun
was born 5/26/05 out of Alex by My World Vincent. (Ilihia) has such balance and strength throughout, it's
difficult to pick just one great thing to say about her. This little girl has the best pelvic structure I've seen, great
legs and strong clean joints. Photo 9/1/06, 1.5 years old. This little girl is a
keeper for sure!

Born 5/13/07 (photo at one day old with Alex standing downhill). This jennet foal by Sedona out of Alex
made my "mother's day" special. Momona means "sweet." A very compact and
correct jennet, this little
sweetheart brings soft charm wherever she goes. Consider adding her to your breeding herd...she will be small! Available now. DOB 5/13/07.J-Bar Farms' Mahina Lokenani (Beautiful Rose Moon)
I'm so pleased to present another LN JBF Red Moon daughter to the world! Born 6/8/07 (photo at two days old), Lokenani
is indeed a beautiful rose in my herd. I took a chance last year and hauled Salome up to eastern Washington for breeding to
Red Moon on an overnight trip when her foal Maluhia was a month old. One breeding produced this graceful little girl.
She will be retained in the J-Bar Farms breeding herd. Package Deals:
