Blue is an exceptional 31 inch rose dun jack born in 1996. His conformation is correct, compact and straight, with good width both fore and rear. Blue is one of the mellowest jacks I've ever known. He definitely has his sire's wonderful disposition, and passes it on to his progeny.
Red Moon is the foundation of my sorrel dream. Though sold to Red Moon Farm (named after Moonie, of course) in eastern Washington, I plan to breed the upcoming sorrel jennets with him in the future. Moon is a striking red liver chestnut with excellent conformation and an extended 107-ancestor pedigree. Genotype: bbaaCC(dd)EeGgRnrnOOttSS with dun factor present.
Makali`i (meaning "tiny") was just 19 inches at birth in May 2005, so he will mature
between 29"-31". His National
Champion daddy Cannon put his print on this little guy. Momma Mahina is the best
jennet I've ever bred. What a combo in a show gelding prospect! (Photo taken at 6 weeks old)
Salome's first
foal, born 2004. This beautiful boy is a stunning
dark sorrel with birth height of 22-1/4" . He is correct with excellent width between the hocks and a wide, short
back. He carries good bone and a sure sense of himself, while retaining his sweet nature. Kanaka has that deep rich red color I love so much.
"Fire" is a sweet sorrel gelding born 7/4/2000. He is very quiet and personable. Fire will
make a terrific pet and is also a good driving and show gelding prospect.
Photo taken July 2003, age three, mature height 34 inches.
Betsy is a sweet, attractive jennet who carries the sorrel genetics of
her famous sire RED BARON. She is a 34" rose dun born in 1993.
She has the most correct conformation of all my foundation jennets and her daughters Mahina,
Kamalani, Kikiholo, and Hula are wonderful. Kamalani (with her sorrel daughter Makana) and Hula are available
for sale at this time.
Betsy is just a total sweetheart,
my "quinessential donkey."
Color genetics: bb(aa)CCDd(Ee)ww(rnrn)ttOO w/DnDn (dominant dun)
"Alex" (sometimes "Lexi") was my smallest jennet at 31-1/4 inches, born in 1993. She was grand champion
miniature jennet at the 1995 Washington Donkey Days (all-donkey show). She is the dam of
J-Bar Farm's Blue Moon, J-Bar Farms' Cannon's Kahuna, J-Bar Farms' Naniloa, J-Bar Farms'
Momi, J-Bar Farms' Ilihia and a rose dun jennet foal Momona born 5/13/07 (see
photos on this page and the sold donkey page). Alex is a more
drafty-type miniature, yet still balanced.
Alex is a brown chestnut with dilution and dun factors present. Color genetics:
bbaaCDDdeeggRnrnOOttSS.
Alex has produced color for me in the past(brown bay).
Momi is a frosty rose dun jennet,
22" at birth, with nicely correct conformation and a darling dish face. Her mature height is 32". Both her parents are
grand champions, and look at those EARS! Photo 9/1/06.
"Makani" means wind. This lovely light rose dun jennet
was born 6/13/05 out of J-Bar Farms' Kamalani by My World Vincent. Makani is a soft-natured being, short-backed and well-balanced. Photo 6/13/05, just 10 hours old.
She is a most
magical being. I've waited many years for a jennet from this cross, and Nani is
everything I'd hoped for. Nani is now available to go to
a new adventure (permanent home). Naniloa is brown bay in color. Photo 5/8/04, still
in winter coat. Nani's price includes a breeding to Sedona (sorrel) when she is mature
(at least three years old).

Nelson! Click for pedigree
Veneta is a 32-1/2" dark gray/brown jennet born in 1993. She had the prettiest
face in the J-Bar Farms herd. Veneta will be a great foundation for the fledgling Nelson herd's
refinement
and small size, and a Cannon foal is expected in April 2004.
